Criminal Background Check
|
A background check, especially if you're considering law
enforcement as a career is essential prior to applying to a
police department. Don't find out what's on your record
"after" applying. |
|
|
A
criminal background check gives you a lot of information about you
and the people you know. It gives you the confidence necessary for
you to make decisions about people in your life such as babysitters,
coaches, teachers, friends or just about anyone in your life. We're
talking about people you choose to deal with or let into your life
(i.e. knowing what their real background is).
But if you're looking to get into law enforcement, we can't stress
enough how |
important it is to know
your background (on record) prior to applying at a police department.
The last thing you want is to be unprepared in an oral board interview
and get asked a question from left field, and/or explain why you didn't
add it to your application. And because a criminal background check can
be ran so easy
and cheap, we're not sure of a reason not to have one done.
Getting the information
you need to make the right decision:
A background check isn't just for police applicants, they're for
anyone that's in a position to have to trust someone. For
instance, to check background could be for hiring a babysitter,
getting a new boy or girlfriend, a preacher, a new private employer,
etc. Background Checks are now easier then ever to perform all
from the comfort of your own home. As you can see, background checks
can provide an array of information for people needing the
information. Police applicants should really consider getting a
background check done on themselves prior to filling out an
application. Forgetting something in your past can get you
disqualified in a second. Having something on your record that isn't
suppose to be there should be challenged before the police who are
doing the background checks see it in the first place.
There are several sites that offer a free background check, while
some charge minimal fees as low as $30. They can be ran on
yourself or people that you know under the freedom of information
act.
