Gangs
Target Mexican Police, Kill Officer - Gunmen linked to
drug-trafficking gangs have been increasingly targeting police and
soldiers as Mexican President Felipe Calderon wages a national
offensive against drug cartels. Mexican officers often face
the choice of "plomo o plata,'' or "silver or bullets,'' meaning
they can either take bribes to allow traffickers to operate or risk
retaliation. Drug cartels place special emphasis on killing
officials who break such deals.

- An off-duty police officer shot and killed a driver in the Bronx
late Friday night when the man, who had just crashed into another
car, began to pull away after the officer confronted him.

plot, the authorities said yesterday, when a man he arrested that
day tried to hire a hit man from his Rikers Island jail cell.

- A Macksville police officer Robert Tim Buckman was rushing to warn
rural residents Friday night of the approaching storm that had just
destroyed this neighboring town when the tornado got him first.
Buckman, 46, critically injured when a twister crushed his squad car
east of Macksville in Stafford County and flung it 300 yards, was
declared dead shortly before 8 a.m.

opens fire in Court Room - A man with a sawed-off
rifle opened fire in a Sloatsburg court room. The man and his
intended target, a 22-year-old woman, were involved in a civil
dispute, Lynch said.
Police investigating shooting by officer
- A six-year veteran officer and three-year veteran with the Corpus
Christi police department, was forced to shoot a suspect while on
top of the hood of the suspect's car, as the suspect began to move
the vehicle.
Teen punches police officer in face
- Police said the 16-year-old suspect punched the female Myrtle
Beach police officer three to four times during an incident at the
Dunbar Villas complex on Dunbar Street in Myrtle Beach, according to
an incident report.
Officer fatally shoots teen at Dallas rail
station

15-year-old boy was fatally shot by an officer for the Dallas rail
system when the teen jumped from the bushes at a station and
attacked the officers, officials said.

- A Los Angeles School Police Department officer was under arrest
Sunday for allegedly sexually assaulting a female motorist while on
duty, police said.

couple in Toledo, Ohio could be facing charges after a 10-year old
runaway and his little brother told police that he was tired of
being put into a dog cage. One of the boy's even said he was
forced to wear a remote controlled dog shock collar.

- A veteran police officer lost his life while on duty Thursday
afternoon. 46-year-old Florence police officer David Young was
killed in a wreck.
Teen pulls gun on officer and is shot dead
- A police officer who killed a teenager after the boy fled the
scene of a reported break-in had been involved in a previous fatal
shooting, a spokesman said.

officer for 18 months when he answered a domestic disturbance call
at a Belmont Avenue residence on Nov. 27, 2004. Shortly after
entering the residence, Vance was shot in the face with a
.357-caliber Magnum pistol.

Dumb Criminal "Man Returns to Bank for his
Wallet" - Just when you think you've seen it all,
something like this happens. A man who allegedly robbed a bank
returns to the scene to retrieve it, and was apprehended.
Wrong ID led to Pittsburgh police shooting
- When police stop a man that fits the description of another
suspect, the man pulls a gun and was shot by police. The man
turned out not to be the initial suspect.

Shot, Suspect Killed - An Acworth police officer is
alive after a suspect he was chasing shot him in the chest. The
suspect died when the officer returned fire. The officer's life was
saved by his protective vest.
Off-Duty Officer Caught On Tape Beating Woman
Video- Anthony Abbate, 38, was expected to be fired after the
investigation into the Feb. 19 attack on the bartender, allegedly
after she refused to continue serve alcohol to the 12-year police
veteran.
Man sues police for wrongful conviction
- Anthony Powell , who served 12 1/2 years in prison for a rape he
did not commit, yesterday sued the Boston police in federal court,
the latest in a series of civil rights claims filed against the city
by men wrongly convicted of violent crimes.

wrong guy, who ended up being an off-duty officer who still had his
uniform on, but his personal coat over it. After stealing the
officer's vehicle, shots were fired.
